If you’re familiar with American football then you might be aware of a popular news story  concerning the New England Patriots.

A couple of seasons back, the New England Patriots suffered a painful loss and the media pronounced their dynasty to be over. Their coach, Bill Belichick, was famously quoted at the press conference following that loss, saying “we’re on to Cincinnati” (the next scheduled game). Well, they went on to win the championship that season and coaches and CEOs all went on to quote that phrase in their own organizations.

The principle was clear: acknowledge loss/failure or celebrate success, but in either case move on and don’t spend too much time thinking about either.
