Bring a new perspective

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” – Marcel Proust

Many people think innovation and creativity is about dreaming up brand new ideas. The reality, however, is that innovation tends to be closely linked to bringing together existing ideas in novel and unique ways to respond to a new insight. Being good at discovery typically means being open to learning and responding to new results and insights to help decide the next move. Hypotheses, assumptions and experiments are key tools to help you see with ‘new eyes’.

What assumptions or hypotheses do you have about your current work that might be hidden or invisible to your wider team or organisation? Can you quantify or make visible anything to spark a discussion or debate which might lead to a new experiment for an improvement?
