Who in your circle have you stopped to praise recently? How often do you take the time to grab a coffee with a colleague for the sole purpose of sharing how grateful you are for them and their contributions?
We spend so much time finding fault and criticizing instead of stopping to consider the good qualities that exist in our colleagues. We don’t take the time to listen to everyone’s story, but they have one just like we do.
So much of the change in organizations happens at the human level when people feel understood and supported. So much of this change can’t happen when people feel unappreciated, neglected or ignored.
Think about developing a habit that involves proactively spending time with colleagues to encourage and acknowledge them.
