When building new products and services or implementing some complex change, it can be easy to get bogged down with complexity in solutions, requirements and debate. Sometimes it means we lose sight of what we were trying to achieve. Don’t be disheartened though. Getting lost can be a good thing.

However, a simple technique to get you back on track is the Three Question Model. This practice helps you discover the right questions to ask and ensures you’re building the right solutions. Most of all, it helps you know what you need to observe to know you’re being successful.

The three questions are:
1. What are we trying to accomplish?
2. How will we know that a change is an improvement?
3. What change can we make that will result in an improvement?

Remember: try to break down big goals into smaller increments to increase the chance of creating value earlier.
