Agile development, better security, and open source

This podcast from the FT looks at how companies can use IT to bring new products to market more quickly, and how a new technical standard, COBIT 5, could help businesses improve their data security. In the last couple of years, both start-ups and large enterprises alike have started to look at a process know as agile software development. Conventional methods are slow and often expensive, so if a company wants to launch a new product quickly, it needs to do something differently.

In this podcast, Philip Black, COO of Emergn, says it is not just a question of improving how software is developed. There is often a deeper set of problems in the way business use IT and they have to be tackled first. They also speak to financial services firm Thomas Murray about how it is using open source software to streamline its marketing.
