Only 30% of companies ever stop a failing project – Praxis was built to change that
Emergn’s new Value Gap research underpins the enterprise release of Praxis, a B2B AI-powered platform for product and portfolio decisions, built to help organizations decide which investments should move forward and which should stop.
LONDON – 24 August 2026 – AI has made software faster and cheaper to build. It has not made it any less expensive to build the wrong thing.
New research from Emergn shows just how difficult it remains for large organizations to stop work that is no longer delivering enough value. In The Value Gap, a survey of 700 senior leaders, only 30% said stopping an underperforming program is a normal part of how their organization works. 71% said they could not give their board a real-time view of everything currently underway.
The financial impact is significant. The study found that large businesses risk writing off an average of 2.4% of annual revenue on transformation and AI initiatives that do not deliver the value expected of them. For a business with $1 billion in annual revenue, that equates to roughly $24 million a year.
As AI increases the number of things organizations can build, choosing what to build becomes more important. Leaders need to know which opportunities are worth backing, what evidence supports the investment, and when an initiative should be stopped before more money and time are committed.
Emergn today announced the enterprise release of Praxis, its AI-powered platform for product and portfolio decisions. Praxis is designed to help organizations answer those questions by bringing product evidence, investment decisions, and product judgment into one system.
Praxis is not new to Emergn or its clients. Product leaders have been using and testing it in real situations since its introduction, and their experience has helped shape the platform. The enterprise release marks the next stage: Praxis is now ready for broader use across product organizations, with the workflows and capabilities required for enterprise adoption.
Praxis draws on the product expertise and methodology Emergn has developed through more than 500 enterprise engagements with 320+ customers. The aim is straightforward: make that expertise available in the decisions teams and leaders make every day, helping organizations continuously improve how they work, invest in what creates value, and build a sustainable competitive advantage.
It also fills a gap between two types of software many enterprises already use. Strategy and Innovation Roadmapping tools help teams organize ideas, feedback, and roadmaps. Strategic Portfolio Management platforms help leaders manage initiatives and resources once investments have been made. Praxis focuses on the decisions between the two, whether an opportunity has enough evidence behind it to be funded, parked, or stopped.
How Praxis helps teams make better investment decisions
- Evidence before investment: Teams can turn opportunities into assumptions and experiments, gather evidence and learn before making a major commitment. Ideas can then be funded, parked, or dropped based on what the evidence shows.
- Portfolio confidence: Leaders can see what is being funded and the evidence behind those choices, making portfolio decisions easier to understand, challenge, and defend.
- Judgment at scale: Stella, the AI capability within Praxis, helps teams identify assumptions, design and critique experiments, assess evidence, challenge weak reasoning, and work through what should happen next.
Praxis is built on Emergn’s Value, Flow, Quality (VFQ) philosophy and 17+ years of experience working with enterprise organizations. More than 50,000 practitioners have been trained in Emergn’s methods. Praxis carries that thinking into the day-to-day work of product teams and helps sustain the work OS Emergn puts in place with clients.
A methodology already used at enterprise scale
The thinking behind Praxis has been developed through years of client work and has already been used to make consequential product and investment decisions.
At a Fortune 500 diversified financial services company, Emergn’s approach helped preserve $3.5 billion in value across a health and benefits platform serving 1 million users and 120 major clients.
In the energy sector, the same approach returned $85 million to the business by turning a $300 million backlog of manual, error-prone work into prioritized initiatives. In another engagement, Emergn helped a client narrow more than 100 high-value problems to 37 priorities, defer the rest and unlock £10 million in cash flow.
The same discipline has helped eleven researcher-led teams at Saudi Arabia’s Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University move from research towards market-ready products, including one product that has since grown into a $200 million platform.
Without this training, I would have built a project, not a product. Instead, I built a product that is evidence-based, customer-validated, and ready to be commercialized.
Dr. Baha, Lead Researcher, IAU Cohort 2026
AI is making it dramatically easier and cheaper to build, which makes judgment more important, not less. The question for leaders is no longer simply whether something can be built. It is whether it deserves to be built in the first place. We created Praxis to bring the product thinking we have developed with clients over 17 years into those everyday decisions, so teams can build evidence before committing capital and leaders can make investment choices with greater confidence.
Alex Adamopoulos, Chairman & CEO, Emergn
The principle behind Praxis is simple: better product economics often begin with deciding what not to fund. By reducing uncertainty earlier, organizations can put more of their time and capital behind the opportunities that have evidence to support them.

About Emergn
Emergn is a technology and management consultancy built on the belief that lasting competitive advantage comes from the way an organization works. We partner with leading global organizations, including Fortune 500, FTSE 100 and Global 2000 companies, to design and embed a work operating system that shapes how work is structured, delivered and improved over time. It brings together three dimensions of performance: process, people and technology, so that execution stays consistent and adaptable as conditions change. Our Value, Flow, Quality (VFQ) philosophy sits underneath this, helping organizations move from project-centric models to product-led, outcome-driven ways of working.
VFQ also powers Praxis, a product development platform built around how product teams actually work and learn. Through Stella, our AI product coach, Praxis gives product leaders and their teams the coaching, tools and knowledge to build products that succeed in the market, and to keep an honest, real-time view of where their investment is paying off.
Emergn has its US headquarters in Boston and its EMEA headquarters in London.
