The challenge
Before AI development, creating real-time defensible intelligence felt like a relay race. A client explains what they need, a designer interprets it, and an engineer builds it.
The traditional approach risked losing impactful data analysis in translation, with fragmented insights hiding the signals that matter most.
Sustain3 saw an opportunity to challenge this approach across the sustainability ecosystem and help drive client growth to deliver faster insight generation, lower analysis costs, real-time continuous intelligence, and source traceability. To give clients the opportunity to start conversations, discuss, and engage as they explore their data and question what they’re seeing before deciding what to do next.
Sustain3 is an AI-powered sustainability insights platform for enterprise FMCG and retail brands. It unifies data on competitors, suppliers, regulation, and product innovation into one environment, organized around each client’s corporate goals. Its capabilities span sector and topic intelligence, fact discovery, with an AI research assistant built on Sustain3’s own evidence base, and full source provenance. The result is better information, faster decisions, and cheaper analysis.
Emergn’s role was to facilitate a design and delivery process to allow ideas to take shape in real time using AI without compromising engineering quality or scalability.
Approach
Working with Emergn, Sustain3 rethought its data platform development process, combining Anthropic’s Claude with Emergn’s software engineering expertise to facilitate a fast-paced, AI-enabled, iterative way of working.
With Anthropic’s AI melded into Sustain3’s design and data environment, engineers worked alongside to ensure the logic embedded in the data models and visualizations that stakeholders create translates into well-architected and efficient, production-grade code. There is no waiting for a designer’s interpretation. The person with the vision has the tools to identify the value.
