Incredible talent

Do you have 100% certainty that the people on your team will get things done and follow through in a manner that results in the best possible outcomes for the business?

Maybe you’ve heard the Masters of Scale podcast series hosted by Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn. Even though I really enjoy the topics and guests he brings on, my favorite part of the podcast is the opening theme for each episode.

In the opening you hear someone say “you need incredible talent at every position” – that statement has resonated with me from the first time I heard it and I can’t stop thinking about its importance and value to any organization and leadership team.

If you lead a team or organization, it’s the question you need to be asking and considering often. How do you answer it? How do you define “incredible talent”? I suppose one way is to think about how you feel when you sign off for the day or week. Do you have 100% certainty that the people on your team will get things done and follow through in a manner that results in the best possible outcomes for the business?

Consider
What does incredible talent at every position look like for you? Is it necessary at every position? Do you know it when you see it?
