The people working at your company represent it. They are the driver to its success. Be smart and hire people that are smarter than you.

Ma shared with the world that the fact that he was a teacher in his former life played a huge role in his career in the corporate world. But before you are able to help people become better than you are, you have to make sure you are attracting the right ones. You would want to hire people that are smarter than you, he says.

The people working at your company represent it. They are the driver to its success. Be smart and hire people that are smarter than you, find the ones with the capacity to develop into something greater than what you are. And after doing so, make sure you provide these people with access to all the soft and technical skills that you consider necessary to get there. Convince them that they are in the driving seat of their future and that you are the front passenger along the journey.

If you find yourself in a position where you could influence the decision of who’s joining the company you work at, ask yourself: could this person be my boss in a few years? And, would they be a good one?
