I was talking with a friend over coffee a couple of weeks ago, and in the midst of discussing our lives and how we want to grow, this friend said, “I want to seek opportunities for….” and continued on.
That phrasing really stood out to me and I’ve carried it with me ever since. I feel like we often use phrases like “I got this opportunity” or “I have an opportunity” implying that said opportunities just kind of fell out of thin air. And sure, sometimes they might, but the opportunities we encounter are almost always the result of hard work, pushing us towards where we want to be.
We don’t have to wait for opportunities to come to us, we can seek them out, we can create them. This truth completely removes any hope for the victim mentality to set in and gives us power to make our dreams come true.
Instead of waiting for opportunities to come to you, go and seek them out for yourself.
